Victory Day Street Decorations, Volgograd, Russia

The photos in this post show some street decorations installed in Volgograd for Victory Day. The first is from the central square at улица Мира (ylitsa Mira) and площадь Павших Борцов (Fallen Warriors’ Square).

162С праздником Победы means Happy Victory Day holiday.

165The third picture is from the Volga embankment, which is named in honour of the 62nd Army. The embankment is one of the most popular places in the city for people to gather, stroll and relax, and it is particularly pleasant in May, before the intense heat of the summer kicks in.

The pictures were taken a few days after Victory Day in 2006. I spent Victory Day in Moscow, where I was lucky enough to attend the parade on Red Square.
